On average it takes me anywhere between two, four or six hours to complete a song. Usually, I get my inspiration for a song through something I seen, heard or read. This comes with a fragment of a melody which I have in my head at this point. Not losing the melody I am humming what I have into a pocket recorder or mobile phone. Then I am writing and composing the melody at the same time. This is what works for me.

 

When I find the inspiration for a song I just start writing and composing and I never know where the lyrics and the melody will lead me.

Well, I usually do have some idea and pieces of the story in mind but I never really know what will is next. The song usually develops on its own.
